Jack Demsey...

The Oxley College Basketball Club was founded in the early 1980s by Jack Dempsey. As the club grew the school handed the running of the club over to the parents and the Eastern Eagles Basketball Club was formed. The club was largely administered in the early days by Jack and his wife Ailsa.

Jack saw basketball as a way to impact lives in a positive way. His dream: "to provide an organisation which stands out in the community for its high standards of conduct and values consistent with those of the Bible."

Jack and Ailsa Dempsey both passed away in 2003. In memory we annually present the Jack Dempsey Memorial Trophy together with a monetary voucher to a player we believe is consistently displaying character and sportsmanship reflective of Jack's dream.
